My first half marathon. Rock'N'Roll Seattle 2014

The morning of my race I couldn't believe I had made it to the start line. The journey it took to get there felt surreal. I never in my life thought that I could run any amount of distance, yet alone a half marathon. The most I had ever ran was four miles. I had six months to prepare and I remember asking my self if it was even possible. Could I do it? I ran even when I didn't feel like running- 90% of it with a jogging stroller! I had several bumps in the road that made me want it more. I found out I was pregnant and miscarried a month before the race. The loss pushed me even harder. I had so many friends and family that were supporting me. - I HAD TO DO THIS!

Before I knew it I crossed the finish line.

I consider my self blessed, because the race went smoothly. Although I did not meet my original goal of 2:10 I was not disappointed with my time which was 2:57. Sure I could have pushed my self to go faster, but for what? So I wouldn't enjoy the race? So I could injure my self and not complete what I had been training most of the year for? I enjoyed my self. Finishing was all that mattered.

I loved every minute of the race, even when I was crying. The scenery was gorgeous. The people I met at my corral were awesome and were really good at pep talks. The weather was great, especially for Seattle. I was in awe of the whole experience which is lead me to this- I just signed up for Honolulu's Marathon on Dec. 14, 2014. I have six months to prepare. Here I am again asking my self- Can I do this? Is this possible?

I want to add that I wouldn't be possible to run with out the love and support that I have. My biggest supporter is my daughter Lucy who suffered 100's of miles in the stroller, and hardly complained. I want to thank my husband for making it all possible. All of my friends and family. With a special thanks to my dear friend Meghan Silvia for taking care of Lucy and I on the race day.
